January 25, 1940, in Frackville, PA.
In early childhood he moved to Stowe, PA. After graduating from High School he joined the Marine Reserves, then apprenticed as an electrician before working for the Navy as an able-bodied seaman and diver. With winters off, he learned to ski at Pine Forge Ski Area and later spent winters in Europe to refine his skiing skills. He instructed at Killington, VT and Elk Mountain before being recruited by Hubert Seeman to teach at Doe Mountain. In 1970 he moved and bought his house in Boyertown, PA. In 1973 Gene married and became a well driller at C.S. Garber. He started Pro Patrolling in 1977 and continued until the 2015-16 season, an almost forty-year career. Gene passed on March 4, 2017. He will forever be seventy-seven.
Gene's hobbies were skiing, diving, going to auctions and flea markets, and taking trips to the A.C. beach. He did enjoy partaking of spirits and spicy food: especially his G.O.P. (garlic, onions, and peppers).
His colorful personality will be sorely missed.
